Hello, I'm Paula.

I'm Paula Siebert, a qualified vet trained in Portugal. I built my whole practice around home visits, because most animals are happiest in familiar surroundings. At home they're calmer, and I can see how they really live.

Most days I am on the road somewhere between Aljezur and Vila Real de Santo António. Vaccinations and check-ups, blood tests, wounds and lameness, and emergencies outside hours.

Alongside family pets I look after horses, donkeys and farm animals, and I help local rescues like ABLE. I keep horses myself, and I speak English, Portuguese and German.

Questions

What does a visit cost?
For dogs, cats and rabbits €45 for a first consultation and €25 for a follow-up visit. From €80 for horses. Medicines and tests come on top. No travel charge within 30 km of Tavira. Beyond that, a mileage fee applies.
Which animals do you treat?
Dogs and cats most of all, and also horses, ponies, donkeys and farm animals.
How soon can you come?
Often the same day or soon after.
Do you come to where I live?
Yes, anywhere in the Algarve. I'm based in Tavira, so the eastern and central Algarve is easiest to book. For the western Algarve, I plan visits on set days, so it may take a little longer to get an appointment. Somewhere remote or up in the hills? Just ask, I always do my best.
What if it's an emergency?
Call me on 912 637 086 during opening hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00. Some evenings and weekends I'm also available for emergencies, and those times are shown on Google. An out-of-hours fee applies. If I can't take your call, please contact your nearest 24-hour clinic.
How do I pay?
Cash, card, bank transfer or MB WAY. You can get an official invoice with your NIF.
My dog is nervous or aggressive.
Tell me before I come. At home it usually goes much better.
Do you do euthanasia at home?
Yes. When the time comes, I come to you, and we go at your animal's pace. Afterwards, I can take your pet with me so you don't have to arrange anything. I can also arrange a private cremation, with the ashes returned to you in an urn. Call me and we can talk it through first.
